The Belize Natural Energy Trust (BNET) was established by Belize Natural Energy in accordance with sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph 23.3 of the Product Sharing Agreement signed on January 2nd, 2003 between Belize Natural Energy Limited and the Government of Belize. The Trust was founded on the principle that it can make a difference by creating innovative partnerships in Belize’s communities to produce sustainable and responsible change. The Trust is dedicated to investing in creative ideas and innovative approaches that can result in high-impact change in the following areas:

• Educational Infrastructure
• Non-traditional Education
• Environmental projects that foster community development and ownership.
• Maximize resources by partnering with other intermediaries involved in educational and environmental activities that are aligned with those of the Trust.
•  Student loans
• Support the development of local educational materials
• Scholarships that focus on unmet areas relevant to the country’s development.

The principal investors founded the Trust on the premise that the Belizean people are endowed with limitless potential to propel their own development, and should be provided with opportunities to realize their potential.

It is therefore the responsibility of the Trust to facilitate a platform for Belizeans to use their inner strength. It is expected that through education and the reshaping of their immediate environment, people will be empowered to improve their lives, the lives of their children and their communities for generations to come.
